Maddy Sharp

From a very early age I was fascinated by both people and health. My mother, a retired Nursing Sister and Midwife, had bookcases full of text books from her training days and I would read them with trepidation and awe.

I loved human biology at school and went on to study A level biology at sixth form college; I may have considered a medical career but my mother had concerns about the future of the NHS and persuaded me against it.

Throughout my teens and twenties I worked hard; the stresses and strains of various jobs impacted on my own health, this in turn lead me to investigate alternatives to prescribed medication. Eventually, many years later, my husband’s experience of acupuncture treatment impressed me so much that I decided to return to college and become an acupuncturist myself.

I graduated from The College of Traditional Acupuncture, Warwickshire in 2004 after completing a three year full time degree accredited by Oxford Brookes University.

During my years in practice I have become increasingly interested in women’s health and now help with many conditions associated with puberty right through to menopause. I am a Zita West Affiliate Practitioner, a member of the Acupuncture Fertility Network and a member of the British Acupuncture Council.

I strive to continually improve my diagnostic and treatment skills and recently completed a short course in reflexology, a healing system with many similarities to acupuncture. My aim is to individualise each treatment and maximise the benefits to my patients.
